**As of 3/27/13, this box has been retired.**

The newest round of the box of the month is under way...

It is still the same idea- a new box every month for the year, from a different carver around the United States. The box will be in place from ~ the 1st through the ~25th each month-depending on weather, the mail etc. The final box (my own) will be permanently placed at the final location.

This year I am doing it a little differently. You will not be going to the same location each month for the new box, but rather the same trail and starting from different locations. The trail will be the Airline Trail. It runs through Lebanon and has many road crossings. Each month I will start you from a new crossing and head to a different spot on the trail.

So, for the second letterbox in this series, make your way to the Airline Trail crossing on Kingsley Road in Lebanon. Park off of the road and head SOUTH on the trail.

Go around the gate and walk along.

The sides drop away on either side of you.

Come to a four way, with the other "trail" being the power lines. Walk under them and continue on.

Walk over a roaring brook (at least it was today) that is spanned by an old railroad stone bridge. Look over the side of the trail. It really is a pretty bridge.

Continue on and you will come to a wooden bridge with rails.

Stop before crossing it.

Turn around and walk back the way you came ~ 24 steps.

Stop here and look to your right. You should see a "waterfall" of large rocks here on the bank.

Spot the two sister and singleton Birch together and look just a little in front of them.

There is a just right cubbyhole in the rock there for this month's letterbox.

Here you will find Fair Weather Friend by paper trail of VA.

It is a gorgeous carve and logbook.

Please be sure to hide the box well when you are done. It has many more stops to make before it gets home and back to its owner.

Thanks,
Flutterby
