"Star Gazer" Microbox

Status of Letterbox: Replaced! Reported FOUND!!! Not in right place. Moved back to area, but not sure if exact. Alive and well (but a little wet) on 12/28/08

Date of Placement: November 16, 2002
Difficulty: Easy
Total distance to microbox: 250 yards (one way)
Placed by Baby Bear

The "Star Gazer" Microbox can be found at Brazos Bend State Park. The park
preserves habitat for many species of birds, and contains many
American Alligators. Also in the park is the George Observatory,
which is open to the public from 3pm to 10pm on Saturdays. Call 979-
553-3400 for more information. The "Star Gazer" letterbox is near
the observatory, but can be found on any day.

Directions:

From Richmond, Texas, take FM 762 South for 20 miles (follow the
signs from Hwy 59 to the park). From Houston, go South on Hwy 288 to
Rosharon, then West on PM 1462 to the park. Enter the park, and get
a map at the entrance station. Follow the map to the parking are
across from the Observatory.

To the microbox:

From the parking area, cross the road and follow the Creekfield Lake
Nature Trail, going East. Cross Creekfield Lake via the bridge.
Look for Gators!! Continue East at the trail junction, following the
Forest Trail, to the George Observatory. Take a look around the
facility. Now to the letterbox. From the doors of the Houston
Museum of Natural Science, return back the way you came on the path
for 60 paces to the Forest Trail cutoff on your left. Take this
trail, which starts South, for 125 paces where you will find the #6 (seem this pole is missing, so you will just have to try to find it based on where it was)
post on your left. From the #6 post, go 9 steps at 70 degrees to a lone tree. Microbox is at left base, covered with leaves and a rock. Be sure to re-hide the box well. Look for Silver Eagle's "Brazos Bend" box, and "Taz" box.
