Grass On Wheels

As you are driving on the 101 on the west side of Phoenix, exit at Bethany Home Road, which goes along the south side of the Phoenix Stadium. Turn into the stadium at 95th Ave and stay in the right lane. Go to the first right turn. There is a sign that says, “Loading Dock”, with a right turn arrow. After making the turn, drive a short distance and on the left side of the road you will see a tan electrical box. Park near the box on the blacktopped area.

There is a row of bushes along the fence. Facing the stadium, go to the last bush on the right, just before the grassy area. You will find the letterbox buried between the last bush and the edge of the grass in the corner of the rock area.

While you are there, check out the retractable grass field. It’s the only field of its kind in North America. The grass is rolled outside between football games so it’s able to soak up the beautiful, natural Arizona sunshine. A few days before a football game it is rolled inside for the game. The grass tray takes 45 minutes to roll the field in or out of the stadium.

When you have finished with your stamping and recording your information, please put the letterbox back together and place it back where you found it and make sure it’s covered so no one can see it.

Be cautious!! Watch out for dangerous desert critters!!!! Let us know if you find it and/or if it needs attention or is missing. www.sundevilmandl@cox.net Also, record your find at www.letterboxing.org or at www.atlasquest.com. ENJOY!!!!
