Peace Valley Nature Center, Bucks County, PA.
This is the first box placed by several members of the StarGazer Circle of the North Penn Indian Valley Adventure Guides group. We are an organization established to promote a better relationship between fathers and their daughters. Talk to your local YMCA if you are interested in joining a group in your area.
Directions to Peace Valley Nature Center: Take Route 313 east towards Doylestown. Turn right onto New Galena Road then left onto Chapman Road. Parking area is on the left.
Difficulty: Not a difficult walk although some off trail walking is to be expected.
Basic compass skills are required.
Note: a pace is two steps. i.e. Count a pace every time you step on your right foot.
You’d better pick up a map at the Nature Center before starting out, unless you are very familiar with the park and its many trails. It’s a great place for hiking, any season of the year.
Today we are heading for a place normally found in The Hundred Acre Wood. Find the hunny-hiding spot of a famous fat bear. Sitting on the bench facing this site, take a bearing of 320 degrees and walk ~10 paces.
You should come to a fairly large tree approximately 2 feet in diameter. Standing with your back to this tree, take another bearing of 190 degrees.
Walk ~22 paces. This should put you in the general vicinity of two tall stumps. One is about six feet tall and decaying, the other is taller and more solid.
Standing approximately in the middle of these two stumps, sight 320 degrees.
Walk off 16 paces and you should come face-to-face with a V tree.
Behind and inside is the item you seek.
Please email us to let us know you found it and to report on its condition.
