Planted by Kelsung for The End Of The World

This series can be done alone, or you can combine it with "The Four Horsemen Of The Apocalypse" series.

Inspired by the lyrics of the R.E.M. song "It's The End Of The World As We Know It", these four men are listed in the third verse, and the only thing they have in common is their initials.

Leonard Bernstein 1918-1990: award-winning American composer, conductor, lecturer and pianist.

Alive and well as of 2/16/23

From the base camp, head west up the paved trail as it curves north up the hill. Shortly after passing over a white cross painted on the trail, a fence begins on the right and some green irrigation controls are on the left. From between two rectangles, go 10 steps at 330 degrees to a rock at the base of a bush.

Leonid Brezhnev 1906-1982: Russian major-general and General Secretary of the Soviet Union.

Alive and well as of 1/25/16

Continue up the paved trail until you see a long cement drain coming down the hillside on the left. Just before it a few feet off the trail is a small boulder. Standing on the boulder, facing the trail, look to your right for a rock hidden between two adjacent bushes.

From here you can continue up the hill and do "The Four Horsemen Of The Apocalypse" series, or just turn around head back down for the final two boxes.

Lenny Bruce 1925-1966: controversial American comedian, social critic and satirist.

Retired as of 1/25/16. I couldn't find him, but try your luck anyway.

Heading back down the paved trail, keep on eye out for a tall cement base for a drain cover with a green "S" painted on it, some distance off the trail to the right. Walk to this drain cover and take 4 steps at 40 degrees to a rock at the base of a bush.

Lester Bangs 1948-1982: American musician, journalist and rock critic.

Alive and well as of 4/4/18

Return to the paved trail and continue to "The Terraced Land" plaque. Pass between the four wooden posts and follow the dirt trail a short way to a lone metal post. Walk off the trail 15 steps at 135 degrees to a large rock. (Update: the posts are gone, but head about 32 steps up the dirt trail to the left, then 15 steps off trail to the rock.)

Return to the paved trail and continue back downhill to the base camp.
