Terrain Difficulty: Easy (slight slope, 100 yards RT)
Status: alive
The Adventures Of Peter Cottontail is a children's book written by Thornton Burgess in 1914 about a rabbit and his funny escapades in the Green Forest. The book combines the fun of a good story with little lessons about wildlife, the environment and being true to one's self. This letterbox can be found in the Briar Patch Conservation Area, home of Peter and many of the other Thornton Burgess animal characters.
Directions:
From Route 6, exit onto Quaker Meeting House Road and go north to Route 6A. Turn left and go 0.6 mi to Discovery Hill Road, turn left then right into parking for Green Briar Nature Center and park by Education Building.
Clues:
Walk on right side of Education Building to Briar Patch Trail and go on it to jct at marker #2. Go right 45 steps to marker #3. Just a few steps behind the marker is a small pine tree with a larger tree behind it. The Letterbox is at the back base of the larger tree under sticks and leaves.
