Our sweet Doodles has turned 7. I have no idea where the years have gone to, but in honor of her birthday, her box has been planted!
This year the three pups boxes are going on the same theme, the things they like to chase/hunt for in the woods.
To find what Doodles just cannot help herself from running after, follow the directions below.

From route 207 in Franklin, turn onto Holton Road. This is a dead end road across from a cemetary. Follow this road up to the split. Left is paved and right takes you on a gravel/dirt road. Go right. Follow this approximately 7/10 of a mile to another split. Again, go right, uphill, and park on the grass near the wooden building.
HUNTING IS ALLOWED (but not on Sundays), so be sure to wear blaze orange as well as putting it on your four legged companions. Also, they should remained leashed.

After parking, head out on the wide trail with the wooden building on your right. This is a white blazed trail, but they are not plentiful and are a bit faded in spots. The trail is very easy to follow though.

Pass a metal gate on your right that leads to a field. Keep going.

Pass an unmarked wide trail on the right. Keep going.

Wave hello to Reilly's Fifth and continue on.

Keep a close watch on the left hand side for where the white trail turns left and goes uphill with the blazes.

Follow it to the top and turn left with the trail.

The river is far below you on your right. Guess what, you are going down there too ;-)

Start heading downhill on the trail.

You will cross a beautiful, wooden Eagle Scout bridge and then come to a smaller bridge.

Stop as soon as you cross the smaller bridge.

From here continue on the trail and count approximately 140 steps. This should put you at a spot on the trail where there is a white blazed tree on your right and three fallen trees in front of you.

Turn left and walk off trail ~ 40 steps to a very curved tree.

Once at this tree, put your left shoulder to it and walk ahead ~30 steps to another curved tree, but not nearly AS curvy.

From here, turn left and walk 8 steps to a very short stone wall, (it looks more a row of rocks actually). On the backside you will see a pile of rocks that holds what Doodles just cannot help herself from chasing and looking for whenever we find a stone wall, which in CT is quite often!!

PLEASE re-hide as well or better than you found it so that others will be able to get the image also.

You can either retrace your steps to your car from here or explore the trails on your own.

Thanks,
Flutterby
