Prepared a couple extra letterboxes tonight for an upcoming Tiger Cub Scout meeting. There are now five letterboxes in Saratoga park. The two we placed today are microboxes, just big enough for the log and stamp. The stamp is self-inking so does not required another ink pad. At last check it was still working and does better without extra ink. Think film container!
Start at the parking lot. Walk past the stone monument. Head down the "East Loop" trail. Walk down one hill and up the next. Find a bench and enjoy the view. Continue on down the trail for 50 paces until you see a clearing on the left with 6 trees. This is NEAR the Brownie's box (E*E*E) but don't go there.
Continue down the path to the right. Sing a Christmas song in your head (or out loud if you wish)... "Over the ____ and through the ______ to somebody's BENCH we go!" As you sing, traverse the bridge (careful!! Slippery when wet!!), admire the pines, and mount the hill. Take a break to use the bench for it's intended purpose. As you sit, begin to sing your song again... you know it's stuck in your head now! Follow step one again but don't be looking for the woods. Instead, stop across the bridge and don't turn in the right direction. Time to play 3 Billy Goats Gruff... You're the Troll!! (And so is the Cat in the Hat!)
