This letterbox was placed by Central Middle School's 4-H After School program. It is a short walk, and a fun box for kids to find.
The Guardians of the Forest
This letterbox can be found on a trail that is heavily protected by the Guardians of the Forest. Seek it out - if you Dare! To get to the start of the trail, you must begin at the parking lot of Central Middle School, otherwise known as the sucking Sea of Cement. You must then get past each of the Keepers of the Forest! First, avoid the net traps. Then, navigate over the rocky Moat of Doom and around two Centurions, each shaped like the letter "H". Your destination is the farthest corner of this heavily protected field.
Your journey begins at a wall made of chains. Here you will find a path leading into the Enchanted Woods. ENTER IF YOU DARE. The first sentinel you will encounter is made of green metal. If you can get past him, follow the sandy trail, keeping the chains to your left and the woods to your right. DANGER is all around, so KEEP on the path and behind the links of chain. Stocks Creek lurks below, so BEWARE.
Continue following the path as it curves to the right. If you spot orange markers left by those who've gone before you, you're headed in the right direction.
Four tall soldiers mark a fork in the trail. Give a salute, then take a left and head down the hill toward the creek.
At the bottom of the hill, on the bank of the creek, 4 MORE guardians keep watch. Follow the path to your right, heading away from the creek. Turn around and check to make sure you are not being followed!
If it is safe, proceed down the path until the trail takes a dip. (The quicksand is usually dried up this time of year). Look for a "gate" on your right. Two guards flank the gate on one side, and one on the other. Carefully creep through the gate, and scramble up the hill.
When you make it to the top of the hill, turn to your left and walk toward the "white" guard. He will be very HAPPY to see you! Never trust a smiling Guardian! Continue along your way until you get to a "T" and STOP!
Look straight ahead into the woods and you will spot a platoon of soldiers, standing in a tight circle - there are more than 20 of them, so proceed with caution! If you can breach their circle, in the center you will find the treasure that you seek!
