From Route 89, take exit 11. Go 1.4 miles on King Hill Rd. toward Newbury.
Turn right onto Bog Rd. Go 0.6 miles. Look for the brown sign reading “Clark Pond Natural Area” on the right. It is just before Forest Acres Rd comes in on the left. If you see a pond on your left, you've gone a bit too far. There is parking for several cars at the side of the road near the sign.

Clark Pond Natural Area is protected by the New London Conservation Commission and the Ausbon-Sargent Land Preservation Trust. The Norman trail has been widened and leveled by Dan Allen, for use as a cross-country ski trail in winter.

Dan is adding numerous small side trails leading to benches and scenic vistas. Some are blazed yellow. Ignore any yellow trails as you follow our clues. Do, however, note the many plant identification signs he has installed--this is a very diverse woodland.

This easy scenic walk takes about 45 minutes and is about 1.75 miles.

These limericks, in order, describe the path to follow, and they also describe some places and objects that you'll encounter as you walk. (Some of the items mentioned aren't visible in winter.) For each verse, fill in any missing words to complete the limerick. The numbers corresponding to the missing words will be important later.
