“Lost” letterbox

This is our first placement!

This letterbox is located in the Alpha Ridge Park on Route 99 (Old Frederick Road) in Marriottsville.
There are 4 boxes, all based on the television series LOST.
Easy and kid-friendly.

From Route 70 West, head to Exit 80 (Route 32) West Friendship. Bear right on exit ramp, heading toward Sykesville. You will see a traffic light at the intersection of Route 32 and Route 99. The West Friendship Volunteer Fire Department is on the right. Turn right at the light. Drive approx .6 mile to the Alpha Ridge Park on the right. Turn right into park entrance. Follow road back to the pavilions and playground on the left. Park here. The first two boxes are close to one another. The last two are a bit farther away, and you may want to drive to get closer to them if you are not up for a little walk. The paths are all paved and pedestrian/stroller friendly.

Box #1 “Claire and Aaron”

While John Locke and Jack were trying to organize everyone on the beach, Aaron began to get fussy, so Claire decided to take him for a little walk. Claire walked up to the playground and jungle gym, imagining how Aaron would swing on the monkey bars in just a few short years. She showed him how it was a pretty orange color, but he wouldn’t be soothed, so she continued to walk toward the pavilion on the left, marked pavilion #2. She noticed that there was a path with some woods behind it. From the concrete pad of pavilion #2, where the grills are, she crossed over the path and walked into the woods. After walking about 15 mom steps into the brush, she saw a large tree. To the left of the large tree, tucked under some concrete pieces and covered with sticks, she found something perfect to soothe a fussy baby.

Box #2 “Hurley”

Hurley saw Claire taking Aaron for a walk. He figured that this would be a perfect time to go off on his own as well. His sweet tooth was calling him! He followed the path from the pavilion area towards the right side of the porta potty. Once he got to the porta potty, he went exploring behind it in search of a quiet place. He went into the woods about 7 paces and saw a group of young trees. Behind a young, bent over tree, between two trees and under a short log he found a rock that was hiding a sweet treat.

Box #3 “Charlie”

Charlie knew that since everyone was on the beach in deep discussions with Sawyer, Kate, Jack and John, no one would notice if he slipped away to search for his guitar. He found the van that had previously been driven by Ben Linus’ father, and followed the road until he came to an in-line hockey rink. He parked near the rink and walked over to check it out, passing by a smaller rink and some tennis courts on the left. Amazing things keep showing up on this island! He decided to walk the perimeter if the hockey rink. When he got to the back left corner side of the rink, he noticed a tree that had a rock at the base. Behind this tree, hidden under some sticks and brush, lay Charlie’s beloved guitar.

Box #4 “Jin and Sun”

Jin and Sun had grown tired of the bickering on the beach and had decided to go for a walk together. After all, they were two people who really completed each other. They had, unbeknownst to Charlie, followed him to the hockey rink. However, instead of continuing around the perimeter of the rink, they decided to follow the road a bit further. They passed some steps that seemed to go up to a soccer field, but since Sun was pregnant, she was too tired to climb the steps. They continued on, noticing a small playground where one day, their baby might play. Once they passed this small playground, they saw a lone tree at the end of the road. It appeared as though vehicles might turn around here. As they began to turn around to go back to the beach, they noticed a young, smaller tree covered with vines behind the lone, tall tree. Within the vines at the base of this smaller tree under a rock, hidden from view, is the symbol of the love of Jin and Sun.
