The James V. Turner Reservoir Dam, also known as the East Providence Waterworks Dam, is a gravity dam. The reservoir has been been there since 1934. The normal surface area is 275 acres. The dam is 60 feet high and 820 feet long with a Maximum discharge of 8300 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 3100 acre feet, but Normal storage is 1300 acre feet. It drains an area of 48 square miles.

On the eastern side of the dam (access from Ledge Road, opposite Quarry Street), you can visit the Fish Passage Facility and take the wooden bridge to beautiful trails around the southern end of the reservoir.

Clues:
From Reservoir Avenue, walk to the dam and follow along the reservoir north onto the wooded trail. Pass two small islands. Take first trail to the left between two Maple trees. At the opening in the stone wall, take 3 paces south on the eastern side of the wall. Polly is hiding in the stone wall beneath the smaller of the two Tulip trees.
