The Two Harbors Light is the oldest operating lighthouse in the state of Minnesota. Overlooking Lake Superior's Agate Bay, the lighthouse is located in Two Harbors, Minnesota. The construction of the lighthouse was completed in 1892. This is an awesome spot to visit. Thanks to Midnight Pilot for originally planting here (boxes are now missing) and turning us on to this spot.

The Walkingsticks were on vacation in Duluth and doing some hiking. We weren’t really familiar with the area, but we had some fun carvings and we adopted some beautiful letterbox spots. Imagine our surprise when we found a located some ice age mammals in the frigid northern areas of Northern Minnesota.
Note - we received several messages that the first box is not here anymore, but the second is safe and sound!
Park in the lot below the lighthouse and head up the path toward the lighthouse and through the "Spirit of Two Harbors" arch. From the arch, walk 30 steps. On your left you will see a three sister birch tree. On the back side of the birch under some sticks, find Saber tooth looking for his next meal. Don’t let him take a bite out of you before you stamp up and return.
Continue down the path past the Scott bench. Keep on the path and walk to the Ivar and Holly bench. From the Ivar and Holly bench, turn your back to the big water. A multi sistered, birch tree that has seen better days lies straight in front of you. Behind the birch you will find the musk oxen hiding from the toothy predator you met earlier.

If you are lucky you may see the Roger Blough freighter loading up in the Two Harbors docks. You can view the light house and walk the break water and path (where the letterboxes are) for free. The lighthouse tour is $3 and is self-guided. It is fun and you learn about the Frontenac and other boats that have unfortunately met their fate in Lake Superior.
Enjoy the hunt and this fun location.
