In 1986, the Denver Post created the premier Ride the Rockies Colorado Bicycle Tour. Over 1,500 riders came from around the country to participate in the six day, cross-state tour. Today, registration is limited to 2,000 cyclists and a lottery registration system was implemented due to the popularity of this event.
This stamp was planted just after the 2012 tour.
2012 Ride the Rockies route:
Gunnison to Hotchkiss 79 mi.
Hotchkiss to Carbondale 68 mi. McClure Pass 8,755 ft.
Carbondale to Leadville 83 mi. Independence Pass 12,095 ft.
Leadville to Granby 94 mi. Fremont Pass 11,319 ft./Ute Pass 9,165 ft.
Granby to Estes Park 63 miles TrailRidge Rd. 12,183 ft./Milner Pass 10,759 ft.
Estes Park to Fort Collins 55 mi.
To find this stamp drive to Odell’s Brewery and park in the lot. On the west side of the lot there is a tree-lined berm. Just west of the berm is a fence. Follow that fence north until it ends at a corner. Just north of the corner of the fence is a spruce tree. On the west side of the spruce tree, under the branches and covered with mulch and needles is a camouflaged bag. Please re-hide carefully.....then enjoy the tastings at the Brewery!!
Please be discreet - this is a VERY busy place.
