This box is a kid friendly box - intended as an introduction to letterboxing and geocaching.

It includes a map and directions to follow !
The coordinates alone will not take you to this box .

You must follow the directions and use the map.

There are several other boxes on & near this trail so it can be a perfect place to begin your adventure.

Happy Boxing!
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

1. Go to the Trail Kiosk. There is a large MAP for you there!
38.7147706, -89.928408
2. Find where you are on the map !
3. Face North on Goshen Trail; use the right hand lane !
4. From your spot in the right lane next to the Kiosk,
take 255 strides North !
( a Stride is one long step ~ about 2' to 2.5' for most adults.)
-- OR --
If you have just located Bikeman - John4:24 Letterbox then you can skip steps 1 thru 4 and do this instead:
Stand back in the right lane next to the
letterbox you just put back;
face North and take 145 strides.
5. You should be standing in between the 2 large billboards to your right. 38.7164909, -89.928374
6. Continue walking North. eventually you will see a chain link fence on the right. The fence begins in a low area (usually very marshy) and then travels up a bank. The bank has no trees between the tail and the fence ...just mostly weeds. At the beginning of the bank ...do you see a tall dead tree? Then you are in the right location.
7. Start counting your strides again, heading North.
8. Stop when you get to 100 strides.
9. Turn West.
10. Cross the biketrail, watching for oncoming bicycles.
11. Through the trees you will see a lake. Find the animal trail through the opening in the trees.
12 Walk through this opening. WATCH OUT ! The slope is slippery and the small tree you want to grab has thorns!
13. Stop at the bottom of the slope.
14. Look around. You will notice where the fence begins (or ends).
15. The lake is private property. Don't go beyond the fence!
16. Face North.
17. The "Hiding Place" will be hanging from a branch about 12 steps (adult sized) to the North.

18. Do you see it? Hurray!
If not, shine a flash light around, it should show up!

19. The Box unclips.
Please DON'T untie the white cord.

20. Feel free to go sit on the bank of the trail to open the box.

21. When you are done, please be sure to clip it on the loop!
