Directions: From the hamlet of Unionville (intersection of 177 and 4) in Farmington travel east on rt. 4 to 167. Turn left on 167. Take your 1st left onto Cottage St., and follow it around to the parking area at the Unionville Lion’s Club Memorial Park.

Background info: This was once part of Suburban park where during the late 1800’s, and early 1900’s people from surrounding communities would come to promenade. This site housed an electric fountain, restaurants, a ballroom, and a carousel. In more resent years the town of Farmington once had their pool located here which is now longer in operation.

Box #1: Walk past the playscape to the back of the playground area. Take the trail next to the sign. At the first fork turn left. Take about 14 steps. You will see a large rock jutting out of the ground. Behind the rock is a Beach Tree. Look around the base for the hissing treasure you seek. Please re-hide well.

Box #2: Continue on trail. At the next fork stay left. Then at the next fork, go right, towards fountain ruins. Sit in the middle of the first bench and take a compass reading of 120 degrees SE to the double trunk hemlock tree (once a triple trunk). At the base you may find signs of the buried swimming pool. Please re-hide well. This walk is about 3/4 of a mile.
P.S. There was a miss hap with a hitch hiker in this box so we are starting a new one on its journey, today, Aug. 22, 2012.
