"Coloma is nestled in the Michigan Fruit Belt, between Chicago & Detroit along I-94 (exit 39). Set close to beautiful Lake Michigan, the area grows a variety of fruits including apples, blueberries, strawberries, cherries, and peaches. Coloma has a variety of attractions for visitors including the nearby beaches of Lake Michigan and Big Paw Paw Lake." Coloma is also home to Deer Forest, which has been around since I was a kid - and recently updated. There are several quality antique shops and some good restaurants, too!
"The Coloma Glad-Peach Festival is an annual celebration of the gladiolus flowers and peaches, which are both grown locally. The festival is held the first full weekend of August and provides three days of family friendly fun for all ages. Events include live music on 2 stages, a classic car show and an aerial fireworks display." We watched the Ultimate Air Dog Competition today. Lots of Good Dogs gettin' wet and havin' fun!!
The letterbox is in Randall Park, on the corner of S. Church St. & Tannery Dr. There is a picnic pavillion and a huge play area for kids. Porta-Jons only.
Count 7...or 8 yellow bricks so you can follow the black tar road. Right at first choice. Past the flag pole, left is right. Forward to the triple choice. Don't Dead End! And left is wrong.
At the bend, five big blues on left. At the next bend, 3 little greens. Stop at the middle one, look at the base of the lamp post to find your festival treat.
