The Blue Whale was constructed between 1970 - 1972 by Hugh Davis as a birthday gift for his wife, Zelta. It was the final addition to an amusement complex that included The Ark (which can still be seen), where children could learn about alligators & reptiles. The Blue Whale quickly became a popular swimming hole until it closed in the late '80's. It was restored in 2002 as part of Hampton Inn's "Land Mark" program.
There is even a small gift shop where you can see photos of the whale & ark in their heyday and if you are lucky, speak with Mr. Davis' son (who knows about the letterbox). As of 2022, there is project to expand the park and connect with other trails in Catoosa.

Clues
The Blue Whale is located on the east side of Rt. 66 just north of Catoosa. It is open from 8:00 am til dusk. Head to the gift shop. See the rock garden? There is a lantern terrarium holding cactus. Open the back. The stamp is inside. Please be stealthy as this can be a busy spot. If you enjoyed this roadside icon, please leave a donation

Also, look for the other box there, Animal Reptile Kingdom aka The ARK
