The "Old 300" Letterbox can be found close to Stephen F. Austin State Historical Site, where Stephen F. Austin (The Father of Texas) began the colonization of Texas with a Grant from Mexico to settle 300 families. The site has a large statue of Austin, as well as a replica
of his only home in Texas, an original well dug by his colony, and the J.J. Josey General Store. Down the road is the SFA State Park, with golfing, swimming, camping and hiking. The box has been moved to a new location at San Felipe De Austin Cemetery, a historic cemetery established in 1824 by a survey in the Mexican Charter.

Directions:
Coming from Houston on I-10, take the San Felipe Exit for FM 1458. Go right on 1458 for about 2 or 3 miles (if you get to the park road you past your turn). Turn left on Campo Santos Dr (just after a church) and park on the left at the first Cemetery arch, next to flags and Historical marker.

To the Letterbox:
Walk through the small gate and ready marker. Go right and get on roadway and start walking. Take right turn on roadway and go until it goes right again (heading for 2nd entry arch). Don't turn. Instead, go left to iron gated tombstone for "English". Continue past this, around big tree near fence to tombstone for "Sillman Family". Just past that , next to the fence is a large rotted tree, with opening about 2 feet up. Box is in the opening, covered with sticks.
