Legend has it that thieves along the Mormon Trail in the 1800’s used the shelter of Robber’s Roost to hide out, stash their stolen goods, corral their horses and keep an eye out for attackers. Sounds like a great place to search for treasure still hidden about!

From Las Vegas, take 95 north to Kyle Canyon Road/Hwy 157. Travel west on 157 for about 17 miles to Deer Creek Road/Hwy 158. Turn right on 158. After about 3.9 miles the Robber’s Roost trailhead will be on the left, parking area on the right.

Cross the street and go west at the trailhead. After about 100 yards you will come to a massive ponderosa pine. Stop to admire this red-trunked beauty, then head 210 degrees ssw for 20 steps. You will see a very large boulder surrounded by several smaller rocks. Check for hidden treasure behind a SPOR in the crevasse next to a baby pine tree. Take an item if you wish.

After stamping in, continue the hike to the top of the trail, where you will likely see small groups of rock climbers scaling the sheer limestone walls. Although it’s an easy to moderate .3 mile round trip loop, please take water as the elevation and desert sun can really 'rob' you of your energy.
