This letterbox - or observation point, as we call them - is part of the 2012 GO and Search the Galaxy! program, and is available from June 1, 2012 - August 19, 2012. Information about the program may be found at www.goyork.org. To participate in the full program, please pick up your free Star Guide (program guide) from any York County Library.
This letterbox is located in Native Lands Heritage County Park. It is 0.52 miles in distance and is rated "moderate" by GO York standards.
Pull into Kline’s Run parking lot and park as close to the pavilion as you can.
Walk up the stairs past the pavilion.
Walk on the pavement and turn left, around the pavilion, heading toward the main park road.
Turn right on the main park road and head up the hill.
When the road turns sharply right and becomes steeper, keep straight and continue on the grass. You should be parallel to the edge of the woods on your left and be walking toward a tree whose branches make a “Y” inside another “Y” about 25-30’ off the ground.
You will eventually notice a “Native Lands Heritage Trail” sign on your left.
Walk slightly uphill toward the sign and continue past it into the woods. The trail will now become narrow at some spots.
Soon you should notice an old farmer’s fence. This means you are heading in the right direction.
After about one hundred yards of walking you will reach the edge of a field.
You will find the observation point at the end of the field on your right.
