This letterbox - or observation point, as we call them - is part of the 2012 GO and Search the Galaxy! program, and is available from June 1, 2012 - August 19, 2012. Information about the program may be found at www.goyork.org. To participate in the full program, please pick up your free Star Guide (program guide) from any York County Library.

This letterbox is located in Rocky Ridge County Park and may be accessed from the rear parking lot. It is 1.50 miles in distance and is rated "hard" by GO York standards.

 Park in the back gravel parking lot near the yellow post and Sue’s Trail (Trail #1).
 As you face the sign for Sue’s Trail (Trail #1), turn right and follow the gravel trail downhill.
 Walk down the gravel trail until you reach the pond. Stop and look at the wetland for awhile. Do you see any ducks?
 Continue uphill on the gravel path until you reach the metal power line tower.
 Turn right onto trail #4 before the tower. After walking a short distance you should enter into the woods.
 After a brief time in the woods, you will emerge into a clear cut section where trees were cut down a few years ago.
 Continue to zigzag on the rocky trail through the clearcut. Occasionally it will feel like you are entering the woods, but you will quickly emerge back into the open.
 As you continue to walk, you will notice sharp banked turns to help mountain bikers. Keep walking.
 You should start to see the edge of the woods again. Right before you get to the woods, you will find two tree stumps on the left side of the trail and a large rock in the middle of the trail.
 The observation point may be found on the other side of the rock and on the left side of the trail.
 To return to your vehicle, continue on trail #4 as it enters the woods and turn right at the first intersection near a large fallen tree.
 Continue on this trail as it goes downhill, choosing either left or right at the Y. The trail will cross a small creek and then go uphill. Stay straight at all intersections with old trails.
 When you reach the main park road, turn right and carefully walk the short distance under the arches back to the parking lot.
