This letterbox - or observation point, as we call them - is part of the 2012 GO and Search the Galaxy! program, and is available from June 1, 2012 - August 19, 2012. Information about the program may be found at www.goyork.org. To participate in the full program, please pick up your free Star Guide (program guide) from any York County Library.
This letterbox is located in William H. Kain County Park and may be accessed from the Lake Redman Activity Area. It is 0.35 miles in distance and is rated "moderate" by GO York standards.
Start at the park sign and map at the edge of the paved path.
Walk toward the Boathouse. The bathrooms are on your left, if needed.
Pass in front of the Boathouse, keeping the lake on your right. Continue as the paved path turns into a single file trail.
Easy does it so no falls in – keep that single file line moving.
Follow the trail as it turns a corner left and Interstate 83 can be seen.
At the trail junction, a Red Cedar tree stands on your right. Keep to the right with the lake in sight.
A field on your left and under an overhanging tree on your right; a few more steps and the observation point you seek should be in plain sight.
