Fuchias are a lovely flower grown on a bush or shrub of which there are almost 110 recognized species in the world. First discovered in Hispaniola (Haiti and the Dominican Republic) in 1703 they are native to a number of spots around the world. Though they are not native to Ireland they grow in profusion in certain areas and are called God’s Tears.

You can read more about fuchsias here:

To find the God’s Tears Letterbox head over to the clues for any of the Scottish themed letterboxes at Nicasio Reservoir. Once you have crossed the land bridge to Scotland and are in the highlands look west to another island (or peninsula if you will) to Ireland. If you are still near the parking spot walk to this land mass using the wide shoulder of the road. After you’ve crossed over by way of the road and reach the Nicasio Reservoir sign walk up the hill and follow the island to its little pointy end where you will note a rocky area with a couple of nice oaks. Locate the attractive tree on the southeast side growing out of and on top of the rocky outcropping. There is lots of poison oak in the area, but not where you’ll go for the letterbox. Approach the south side of the tree. Clamber up the rocks maybe fifteen or twenty feet from the ground and not yet at the base of the tree and find the God’s Tears Letterbox in a crevice obscured with rocks. If it’s any help this particular crevice in under a large part of the oak root.

Please replace rocks to the hiding spot is not obvious and no one can see the letterbox behind. Thanks for coming.
