Walking distance: 1/2 mile loop
Trail difficulty: moderately easy; paved trail but some steps and ups and downs

The answers to the questions in the clues for this webbox are located in Mesa Verde National Park located in far southwestern Colorado. Letterboxes are not allowed to be physically placed in national parks. So, I have created this webbox. You must actually visit the area of the clues; however, you need to go to the Web to obtain your finders stamp and sign the log book.

From U. S. Highway 160 east of Cortez, enter Mesa Verde National Park. Drive to the Chapin Mesa Museum and park near it.

Just to the south of the museum entrance is a large informational sign titled “Headquarters & Museum” (there is a large map at the bottom of the sign and a picture of the construction of the museum at the top). In the paragraph titled “Modified Pueblo Revival Architecture:”, in the 2nd line (starts with the word “Headquarters”), what is the 8th word _____?

Start walking down the trail to the Spruce Tree House cliff dwelling. Look for an interpretive sign along the trail titled “GAMBEL OAK Quercus gambelii”. In the paragraph (starts with the words “Canyon trails”), in the 2nd line, what is the first word _____?

To create the mystery word, put the word from the second question on the end of the word from the first question (without spaces). Paste the mystery word into this URL (replacing the question marks “???” with the mystery word):

http://nostalgia.esmartkid.com/???.html

Now, plug/paste/type the new URL into your web browser and you will have completed your search for the Mesa Verde Park Webbox.

Please record your find at www.letterboxing.org/ .
