201 Lyons Rd. South, Coconut Creek, FL 33063

THIS BOX HAS BEEN PULLED FOR THE RAINY SEASON. IT'LL BE BACK IN THE FALL.

This box was found partly open and filled with water. The plastic bags inside hadn't been sealed, so the entire contents were soaked. Please, always be sure everything's sealed up tightly before you walk away from any box!

To the park:
From I-95 head west on Atlantic Boulevard. Go south (left) on Lyons Road. The entrance of the nature center will be on the west (right) side.

This park has a history of having boxes go missing, so please take care to be discreet and rehide well. Happy hunting!

*Pretty easy hike on boardwalks and dirt trails--not wheelchair or stroller friendly.
*Box has a store bought stamp, but the nature center is so nice, it's worth it.
*Bring your own ink. Green is recommended.
*Dogs and picnics not allowed in the Nature Center (there’s a picnic area in by the parking lot, if you want to take your lunch)

FERNS TOO --placed 05/22/04 (to replace the former box, which went missing)-- Last verified, March 13, 2005 -- clues:

Enjoy the boardwalk stroll to the building and feel free to peruse the exhibits before proceeding to the trails. (This park has great trails, and I can recommend any and all of them!)

When you reach the “fork in the boardwalk,” head for the Prairie Overlook Trail. You’ll cross some water the color of tea, and pretty soon you’ll find yourself facing the big trail map. Go to the left here, following the sign for the Wetlands Wander South, though you’re really heading for the Prairie Overlook.

The Prairie Overlook route will eventually take you into the woods (can be soggy and buggy in wet weather). Enjoy this walk in the woods until you get to the boardwalk that will take up up to the observation platform, then continue on the boardwalk on the other side of the platform, back down to “earth level.”

Continue to follow the Overlook trail. When you reach a fork in the trail that has a crude bench on the left, turn left.

Be on the lookout for Joyce’s bench. From that bench, go 26 paces (2 steps = 1 pace) farther and turn to face your left. You should see two trees close together 4 paces off the trail. If you're unsure, a compass reading of 80 degrees will point the way.

On the far side of the near tree, under a rock, is the letterbox.
