I was born 50 or 60 years ago in a lagoon between Los Angeles and San Diego. It is so busy there now with human traffic that my progeny couldn’t be born there. They were born further south in the gulf of Baja. We moved a lot when I was a kid, traveling up and down and up and down the Pacific Coast. During my travels I became an expert in seafood cuisine. I am especially fond of tiny, shrimp-like amphipods. I used to spend my winters in Monterey from December through May. I have finally retired from my travels and have settled on an east cliff of Santa Cruz. It is here that you can find me lying in the sun, studying and learning about the natural history of Santa Cruz. I love it when children clamber upon my back. Oh! If you come visit me you will find a friend of mine hidden under my right pectoral flipper.
