Difficulty: Natural & narrow trail with small hills, fine for older kids and adults. Not stroller friendly.
Directions:
From I-74, take the Brookville exit (first exit inside Indiana from Ohio) and go north. I suggest you spend some time in Brookville because it is a beautiful historic town. There are historical markers everywhere! After passing through Brookville, take Rt 101 North. Pass the turnoff for the spillway and go to the next entrance (for the dam). Note the “shoe tree” on the left just before the turn :-)
Clues:
Park in the first lot (before you cross the dam). Just past the gate by this lot, there is a sign for the start of the Adena Trace trail. Follow the trail till you come to a very large oak with it’s roots across the trail. This is one of the few ‘original’ trees in this area. Look on the back side under a rock. Re-hide so that the rock is wedged in and it looks natural.
