****THIS LETTERBOX IS A HITCHHIKER HOSTEL. For those of you who don't know what a Hitchhiker Hostel is, it is basically a letterbox where you can ditch old hitchhikers that you picked up a long time ago (or recently) or get more hitchhikers. If you find this letterbox, you are meant to drop off or pick up some hitchhikers. You don't have to pick up or drop off any hitchhikers if you don't want to, though. Thank you. ****
Directions & Info:
Find Castle Rock in Blue Mountain Lake, NY. The trailhead is at the end of Maple Lodge Rd, right after the Minnowbrook Conference Center. To just find this letterbox, it is 1 1/2 miles round trip, but if you decide to find the letterbox then go to the summit, it is 2 miles round trip. If you are in Treasure Hikers/NYS Letterboxing Challenge, you would count 1 1/2 miles/points for this box.
Clue:
Start hiking up the trail. You will go over a small footbridge, and you can find another letterbox here. (The Sentinel, by merrie mushroom). Continue on the trail. After approximately 3/4 miles, you will get see a huge giant rocky ledge about maybe 50 feet high. (I am guessing this is the "castle" part of Castle Rock) After a few hundred feet (I think) you will come to a huge rocky cavern. The cavern is cool, and cool in a sense of temperature. Look at the back wall of the cavern. Look at the bottom left hand corner of the back wall. There is a opening where the back wall meets the side wall.
