At the main entrance to Barnes Park, you will see a building to your right. This is where the park workers are and where you register for camping. Don't worry, the park is free to visit. Camping is only open April - October. I don't think the rest of the park closes but I could be wrong. It was open when I planted the box (obviously!) in the middle of November. Anyway.....keep left. I hope you noticed the speed bump warnings. They are pretty fierce! Park near the stairway to the beach which is across from the shower/bathroom building. Showers are .25 in case you wanted to know :).

Barnes Park provides an excellent view of Lake Michigan along with a great beach for swimming. At night enjoy a romantic stroll along the shoreline and watch one of many of the great sunsets Lake Michigan is known for. I recently read a comment about Barnes Parks stating "This park is for lovers". It truly is a beautiful, out of the way place.

At the bottom of the steps, turn right and follow the treeline for approximately 172 steps to a large pine tree. Enter the trees here (bushwhacking a tiny bit). Notice a large shrub to the right. Here is the letterbox. Look near the middle of the part furthest from the beach. Please be stealthy. This is a popular beach in the summer. Re-hide well! :)
