There is a little secret in our county. It is a mowed people trail through the woods that is maintained by a group called The Sycamore Land Trust.
Take Hwy 46 West out of Columbus as if your were going to Nashville. Turn left on Country Club Rd. About 4/10 of a mile turn left into Touch th Earth" parking lot. Be sure to pick up a tree identification page the boy scouts have provided and head out counter clockwise. This path parallel the road.
Proceed over the foot bridge and veer left. We hope you will stop now and then to enjoy all of nature along the way. Can you identify any of the trees so far? Along the southern boundry of nature trail you can see the trees beginning to encroach on the trail. The trail meanders slighty past tree #3. Larger trees and a hidden bluff begin to appear to the left of the trail. You will come to a "cut through" the secret is just ahead. Don't be tempted to short cut.
As you enter this area STOP at the large cedar tree marked #5. Have a seat on the bench and listen to the birds. They are telling you a secret! Look ahead just a bit and you will see tree #6. Standing @ 150* turn to 120*
Walk to the only broken off tree stump.
Look behind the stump, at the base You'll find a hand carved stamp given to us by a friend we introduced to letterboxing. We hope you enjoy this trail and one of the counties best kept secrets. If you are feeling frisky hike the second trail as we often do.
