Be sure to wear orange during the hunting season(s), as there is hunting in the area.

This year's box of the month series got off to a rocky start, but it is in full swing now!!!

Each month for the year 2011 should bring a new box by a different letterboxer from around the country, and slightly different location along the same trail. The box should generally be in place the first week of the month and will be available through the 24th. Remember though that each one will be in a different location, so you will need to check the clues for the new spot.

This is my fourth year doing this and I was very happy to have a new trail in my hometown to use for it (especially with the price of gas right now!!!!!!!!!!).
Hunting is allowed during season along this trail, so be sure to wear blaze orange in season-this goes for your four legged companions also!!

From the intersection of routes 289 and 87, head west on route 87. You will come to a cemetary (with a few boxes to be found there ;-) on the right hand side of the road. Stop here and pull entirely off of the road.

With the placement of this box, another round (the 4th) of the box of the month series has come to an end. This final box is a permanent placement. Well, as permanent as any letterbox can be ;-) Because it is the final box and I have high hopes of it lasting a long time, I will give the directions from the beginning...rather than from where last month's box was.

Head down the trail that is marked by a large wooden sign. This is the beginning of the new Common Hills Trail. This is an old abandoned road and can get VERY wet at times, so be sure to have the proper/waterproof footwear...

Walk along this wide dirt road and take care to avoid some rather large "puddles".

You will walk for a bit and start heading downhill.

Shortly you will come to a Y. You will need to go left here with the yellow blazes. Although going to the right will bring you to an area with many other boxes...

After heading left, you will start going uphill. It is much drier along here and a rather pretty area.

After a bit, you will see where the yellow trail makes a right turn through a stone wall. You need to do the same.

Walk uphill some more, finding another wet/soggy area-not nearly as bad as the first section though.

You will eventually come out to the power lines. Although I generally dislike walking along power lines, this area is quite nice. Cross beneath the lines and follow the yellow blazes (on rocks through here) back into the woods.

This leads to the prettiest section of all on this trail.

Walk until you get to the spot where yellow goes in two directions. Take the trail to your right.

You will walk along until you get to a bent tree on the right side of the trail with a double blaze that indicates a left turn. Stop here!

Look to your left. You should see a row of large rocks leading right up to a tree. Go to the tree and look behind one, thin, upright rock to find a hollow at the base of the tree.

Look inside the hollow for the final box-A Sailor's Temptation- of this year's series.

After stamping in and re-hiding/naturalizing the area, continue on the trail It will bring you to where the two trails first diverged. Go right and follow the trail back the way you came in.

It was a pleasure to discover sections of this trail each month. I, as the planter, did not go any further on the trail until each new month. It added a little excitement for me too. 8-)

A huge thank you to all of the loyal monthly finders!!!

Thanks,
Flutterby

P.S. There is a special gift inside for the first finder...
