Our letterbox is hidden in a place that is mildly difficult for a five year old to travel down. We took our 3 year old and 1 ½ year old down the trail. Take some good shoes.
Go to Farmington Canyon. To get there, Take Highway 89 to Kaysville and turn East at light on Shepard Lane. Next, take a right at the stop sign at 600 N. 600 North switches around to Main Street, and then back to 600 North. As the road curves, you will see a street that runs east to west and has the 600 North street sign. Go up this street instead of following the road as it curves. Next, turn left at 100 East and follow the road to the North. This will take you into Farmington Canyon.
Just as the road turns from payment to dirt, there is a parking lot off to the right. Go into this parking lot and put on your hiking boots. On the south side of the parking lot are two dirt trails that leads down to the river. Follow one of them down. When you get to the bottom, find a tree that grows across the river. There is a trail of rocks placed across the river about 3 feet below where the tree is. Cross the river and go up the trail on the other side.
When you get up the trail, you will be in a little clearing. Look to the left (East) and find a gathering of rocks. They are staggered in an “S” pattern. The letterbox is hidden behind the biggest rock.
Please drop us a postcard and let us know how this went! Have fun.
