This letterbox is the first in what I hope to be a very long series. Today (October 16th, 2011) is our 14th anniversary and we are commemorating it with a new box. When we first met, it seemed like every time we went out, it rained, hence the name of the box. There is a first-finder as well. Happy hunting!
From Phoenix, take M-26 toward Eagle River. There are many historic points in this area of which to take note. Were it a hundred years ago, you may have stopped in the blacksmith shop to have your horse reshod, but today you pass by. Across the bridge and another half-mile farther on you will find a pulloff on the right with a path that leads to Ten-Foot falls. This is where you need to be!
Walk into the clearing to the falls, but be careful to not trip on the many roots! There is a large white pine at the water's edge that you will find yourself beside. At this point, turn to face the road. To the right, a path meanders up into the woods. Follow it until you find a large, moss-covered stone beneath another white pine. Look off the trail to the left and find a multi-trunk cedar tree. At its base you will find your prize!
