Thanks to CW Sunseeker for carving this very appropriate stamp. She also made the log book and even sent us the box.

Silverthorne (town) is just off I-70 on the west side of the Continental Divide. Silvethorne Letterbox is off the Mesa Cortina Trail from where you can see the town, Lake Dillon, Keystone's North Peak, and some of the Continental Divide. It is only about 1 ½ miles RT with a total of 175 feet of elevation gain, mostly on the way back.

Directions: From I-70, exit 205 north on Hwy 9 to the first light and turn left on Wilderness Road. This area is being redone and Buffalo Mountain Rd is presently closed. Stay on Wilderness Rd until you see the detour sign and turn Right which will bring you back to Buffalo Mountain Rd. Turn Left. The road turns to gravel. Follow it to the T at Royal Red Bird Dr. Go Right for about .2 miles to the trailhead parking on the left.

Clue: Hike down Mesa Cortina Trail about .75 miles to the Eagles Nest Wilderness Boundary (sign) where you will see a trail heading back to Silverthorne. About 250 feet down the trail and to the left of the trail is an Aspen Grove. There used to be a clump of 4 Aspen, 2 dead and 2 live ones that a "V" but one of the dead ones fell so we are revising this clue. The "V" trees are at the western edge of the grove, closest to the main trail. Immediately behind these 12 inch diameter trees is a dead aspen and the fallen aspen. The box is under the base of the fallen aspen.

Since this was so easy to find, why don't you continue up the trail to the Gore Range Trail (about 2 miles further) or South Willow Falls (about 3 ½ miles further).

Please bring your own ink and pen.
