Each campus of the University of Oklahoma has a statue of The Seed Sower, who serves as "as reminder of the importance of sowing the seeds of knowledge, to bear fruit in the future." The Seed Sower appears on OU's seal, and was intended to look like David Ross Boyd, the university's first president.
You can see the OU-Tulsa Seed Sower from the street as you approach the campus from the west on 41st Street, or from the north on Yale Avenue.
To get to the letterbox, park behind the library and walk north. You will cross a driveway (watch out for cars!) and traverse a large field.
Continue walking north, past the building that used to be a gas station. Go behind the building, and you will find yourself looking up at the Seed Sower from the BACK. Walk toward him and keep going around either side of his platform. Look under a brick on the ground below his right foot to find the seeds we've sown for you!
This is the second box in the OU-Tulsa series. You can see the official seal with the Seed Sower on it as you travel from this box to the next one, Box of Wisdom (or if you're not going directly from this box to that one, you can see it here: http://www.ou.edu/content/brand/trademarks/ouseal.html).
NOTE: This box is hidden loosely because it's in a secluded spot, and the very kind campus landscape folks know it's there, so they'll leave it alone. Please be sure to rehide it well, with the brick and plenty of leaves. To get to the next box (Box of Wisdom - Confucius Institute) from here, head southwest across a large field to the American flag at the center of campus, facing 41st Street.
EDIT: I've edited the clue after our first group of letterboxers noted that the original instructions seemed to lead searchers around to the FRONT of the Seed Sower instead of the back, and also specified his left foot instead of his right. If you searched for this box between 10/2/11 and 10/9/11 and didn't find it, we hope you'll try again!!
EDIT: (3/2014) The Seed Sower seems to have decided to go traveling. We hope that he will return soon. Please enjoy the other letterboxes on campus in the meantime.
