The first Hornets on the Move trip for the 2011-2012 school year included a visit to Roseland Plantation. Roseland Plantation was built prior to the Civil War and the grounds today include the original plantation house, the Windsor house, a chapel, a ballroom, a log cabin, and more. Mrs Windsor who was solely responsible for saving Roseland Plantation, was also instrumental in the founding of the Tyler Rose Garden. Roseland Plantation also has the distinguished honor of having the first historical marker in the state of Texas. This is a beautiful location and well worth the time to enjoy this beautiful plantation.

Roseland Plantation is located about 6 miles west of Tyler on Hwy 64. The main house is on the left side and right past the house is the main entrance which is a large white wall on both sides of the drive with Roseland Plantation on it. Pull into this entrance and stop. With your back to Hwy 64 and facing the white wall, walk to the left end of the sign and there is a large multi trunk tree. Next to that tree is a smaller cedar. The letterbox is hanging in a bag in the cedar.
