The Waterfalls Twenty-eight Letterbox is located in Seymour, CT at the intersection of Routes 313 and 67. The Rimmon Falls contributed to the Aboriginal American name, NAWCATOCK, given to the river which creates them. They are located on the site of a pre-colonial village under the leadership of Chief Chuse who was a scout in the French and Indian War. It is in his honor that Seymour was originally called "Chusetown." Although The Falls have been somewhat tamed by Rt 8 which spans them, they still earn their nickname, "The Little Niagra." They were absolutely spectacular in Hurricaine Irene (2011), and ferociously dangerous in the flood caused by Hurricaine Connie (1955).

DIRECTIONS:

Take Rt 8N to Exit 21 (Derby Ave.) At the end of the exit, continue straight, following the Rt67 signs. At the first traffic light, take a right and IMMEDIATELY another right alongside of the Congregational church. There is plenty of parking, even when the Farm Market is open.

CLUES: (amended 01.27.15)

Carefully cross Rt313 toward the gazebo. But take a left and follow the sidewalk under the highway. The sidewalk will end, and a post and wire fence will begin. Follow this fence, walking on the grass, counting SIX POSTS on the the metal railing. Watch the poison ivy, please. Then look to the right and down the embankment. Go a few steps down the bank, climbing on the boulders. Turn back toward the bank to see a number of little caves. The Waterfalls Twenty-eight Letterbox is hidden, in one of the little caves behind a stone.
