The stamp in this box was designed in honor of Port Washington's rural and rustic past. First settled in 1644, the area was originally named Cow Neck after the common cow pastures used by the original English settlers. It wasn't renamed until the verge of the Twentieth Century, when the Long Island Rail Road built an extension to the area.

This box is located at Baxter's Pond Park on the corner of Shore Road and Central Drive, just north of Main Street. There is a parking lot right across the street from the park on Shore Road.

Walk along the south side of the pond along the brick path until you reach the bridge at the east end of the park. A faint dirt path continues along the pond where the brick path ends. After stepping off the brick path, count 23 paces and turn to your right. Here, just behind tree branches and low-lying brush, you should see a pile of dead wood just a few steps up the hill. At the center of this pile of wood you will find the letterbox.
