On July 24, 2011, new walking trails along the Hudson River were opened to the public, in a place called Falling Waters Preserve on Dominican Lane in Glasco. The preserve was created through a partnership between the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill, who own the land, and the environmental organizations of Esopus Creek Conservancy and Scenic Hudson. This letterbox commemorates the action of the Sisters that make these trails possible.

To get there, turn east onto Joseph’s Drive just north of where routes 9W and 32 converge and take that to the end. Turn right and then take the first left to the parking lot at the entrance of the Preserve.

Walk to the very end of the red trail to see where the creek flows into the Hudson. Note that there are two ways to get there! Now turn around and go to the top of the first knoll. Look left for a 3-sister tree with a hole at its base. Around the other side is Sister Act. Take care to re-hide it so that it is protected from the elements.
