Hiking time: 20-30 minutes
Necessities: long pants (if allergic to poison ivy), insect repellant.

DIRECTIONS
Take I-90 to the Willoughby/Willoughby Hills exit; turn south on Rte. 91 (S.O.M. Center Rd.). Turn left (east) at the traffic light @ Rte. 6 (Chardon Road). You will pass the Willoughby Hills Fire Station on the left, then an entrance to the North Chagrin Reservation of the Metroparks on the right; keep going straight. At the next traffic light (junction 174) turn right. After going down a hill, you will soon see the sign for Squire's Castle Picnic Area on the right; continue driving past two other picnic areas until you see another park entrance (Oxbow Lane) on your right. Make a left turn onto Rogers Road. Park in the lot on the right side of Rogers Road, before the bridge.

Begin hiking alongside the road, towards the bridge that crosses the Chagrin River. Turn left and walk under the bridge; continue following this trail into the woods, walking north along the river. Enjoy the river views, but watch your step! The trail has eroded in places, making it very narrow beside the river. During rainy seasons, the water can rise pretty high.

When you have almost reached the end of this trail, you will see an opening in the vegetation on your right. There is a group of trees, with many exposed, intertwined roots. The roots of the 2 closest trees have intertwined to form a nice round opening between them -- a perfect spot for a letterbox! You will find it hidden underneath a pile of rocks.
After stamping in, please replace it as you found it.

You now have the option of playing by the river, basking on the tiny beach, or simply returning south to your car. Hope you had fun!
