12 Months in a Year

This is a series of 12 boxes observing each month of the year. TrailMix and Yankeesfan will do our best to get a box planted each month in a timely fashion. However, if we have another winter like 2010-2011, it will be quite a challenge! See you on the trails!

July

The first box in the series. Fireworks, picnics, flip flops, sunshine. This is July.

Directions: Located on the trails of the Shelton Lakes Greenway. Take route 108 from the Huntington Green towards downtown Shelton. Turn left onto Constitution Blvd. Go past Shelton Intermediate School, which will be on your right. On your left you will come to a small parking area (diagonally across the street from this is event parking/Darryl Ellis Dr which is the back entrance to Shelton High School). Park at this small lot. This is the turkey trot trail.

Clues

Head down the turkey trot (white) trail. In a short time, you will come to a tree (a beech, I think) that juts out onto the trail. The tree has a “gash” down it’s middle. Standing with the tree on your left, look to your right up the hill. There is a rock standing up next to a tall thin tree. The July box is there!

Skip the cake, make a wish bonus box

My letterboxing friend celebrates a birthday in July. What better reason for a bonus box! There is no cake; my friend does not eat cake. But stamp in, my dear friend, and make a wish. Here’s to you and many, many more healthy and happy birthdays!
