Park at Prescott Farm Environmental Education Center and walk down the mowed path to the Gardens/Barn. Find the Sugar Trail trailhead. Follow the Sugar Trail down the hill into the woods.

One of the coolest things along this trail is the huge hollow ash tree on the left - can you find it? Try standing inside it and looking up!

Continue on to the Sugarhouse. In March Prescott Farm taps the sugar maple trees here and teaches people about turning maple sap into maple syrup - you should come back and visit us then! See if you can find some of the sugar maple trees with white signs - those are the trees' names! We use the names to help us keep track of how much sap we're collecting. Can you also find some of past years' tap holes?

With your back to the Sugarhouse door, find the tree called "West 1." Walk southwest straight past "West 1" at a bearing of 245 degrees for about 125 feet. The letterbox is covered in olive-green duct tape and is located between a stump and a rock.

This letterbox is also a geocache. There is a separate logbook for geocachers, so be sure to get your stamp in the one that says "LETTERBOX LOGBOOK." Please replace everything the way you found it.

At this point you can turn around and go back the way you came, but also feel free to continue along the Sugar Trail - it will meet the Pond Loop Trail (blazed blue) and you can either go left and check out the pond, or go right, meet the Forest Trail (blazed yellow)and find your way back up to the education center (open 9:00-4:00 daily).

Thank you for visiting Prescott Farm Environmental Education Center. For more information, please visit our website at www.prescottconservancy.org.
