Following one's dreams is not easy. It takes conviction, accepting the risks and often forging new paths into unknown territory. The foreign lands to a geocacher or a letterboxer are usually each others sport. But they are similar in many ways which a short hike through Capen Park may prove.

Your journey begins at the parking area for Capen Park just off of Rock Quarry Road. A trail to the east will lead to a rocky incline behind a bluff. Take care to not get too close to the edge! Follow this incline north to the summit and a park bench declaring, "Ain't love grand?". Continue on the path to the north (right of the bench) until you spot a fallen tree trunk between two closely planted cedars on the northwest side of the trail (left). Inside the trunk you will find further instructions. As dreams don't always make sense, the directions may seem like gibberish. But fear not! Reading them is simply a matter of looking at things in reverse. And please be discrete! The trail along this bluff has many visitors of the biking and jogging variety.

Why a Flying Coffeepot? Many college students find refuge on this bluff for studying or taking time off the same. And, somehow, it seems that either activity would be in need of a good dose of caffeine.

Best of luck, and enjoy your visit to Capen Park! Please hide all containers found as they were discovered, and remember to watch for other park visitors.

This geocache / letterbox was placed with the permission of the Columbia Parks and Recreation Department. Thanks go to Linda Gouchenour for her approval!
