Nine Cadettes from six different troops, four Service Units and TWO Councils (Orange County and San Goronio-Central) assisted Dopey of DopeyDuck (she is also a Girl Scout Leader) with the event! The Brownies and Juniors learned the history and basics of Geocaching and found caches placed for the event as well as two real caches.
They learned about Travel Bugs and during the event each troop/group made a special Travel Bug. A total of FIVE were made. They are being placed in this Letterbox to start their race to a Geocache at the Historic Georgia Girl Scout Headquarters there. They hope to make it there by March 12, 2012 - Girl Scouts' 100th Birthday! The girls are creating TB's to race from this Letterbox to a Geocache named "Daisy's Garden 2 cache" - GC1DTG8

Located in Pinecrest Park: 21310 Pinecrest, Mission Viejo, CA 92692; at the corner of Pinecrest and Santa Margarita Parkway. Park anywhere along Pinecrest and walk down the sidewalk into the park.
Continue on the sidewalk on the left side of the park, along the athletic fields. When the sidewalk turns right, you will be at the beginning of the dirt path to the letterbox. Along the way, look for other boxes hanging in the trees. The first one we spotted was in a pepper tree on the left about 175 feet from the sidewalks; edge. These boxes are BIRD BOXES and a part of a 2007/8 Boy Scout Eagle Scout Project

Continue along the dirt path about 0.17 miles (33 39.340, -117 38.165) You will find a fork in the road. Follow that single track trail to the large pepper tree, again on the left. Look up to find another Bird Box from that same Eagle Scout Project. Continue under that big Pepper Tree. There are at least three pepper trees here. Find one that has a white rock shaped a little like an arrow. The rock is pointing towards the location of the letterbox container. There is a geo-pile of wood. Please re-hide at least as well as you found it. "A Girl Scout always leaves a place better than she found it." And Boy Scouts AND Geocachers too!
This is a theme Letterbox. It started with about ten old patches from events of years gone by. Please feel free to trade a patch for a patch. We'd love to keep it scout patches but, any patch is ok.
