A Giant Turtle Pain in the Neck! (another in the Leave Only Footprints series of letterboxes)
Cub Scout Pack 7 Wolf Den Letterbox
Begin at the entrance to Westwood’s Trailacross from Bishops' raspberry picking area off of Dunk Rock Road, in Guilford.
Short route:
1. Take the Green trail to the right. Follow the path along the left edge of the marsh.
2. Follow the first path to the right and cross over a wood bridge with 4 wood planks.
3. At the next path (it will come up quickly) take a left.
4. After a short walk, take the first unmarked path. The unmarked path will pass exactly between two oaks.
5. Hike till the path ends in a T. Take a right and follow the green trail markings.
6. After a short hike, find a large grouping of rocks near the path that look like a giant turtle opening its mouth. The letterbox is at the base of the turtle’s neck!
Long route:
1. Take the Green trail to the right. Follow the path along the left edge of the marsh.
2. Follow the first path to the right and cross over a wood bridge with 4 wood planks.
3. At the next path (it will come up quickly) take a left.
4. Continue on the Green trail until you come upon a crooked tree that marks a T in the trail. Go right and continue along the Green trail.
5. Continue along the green path until you come upon a large grouping of rocks on the left side of the trail that looks like a giant turtle’s head opening its mouth. The letterbox is at the base of the turtle’s neck!
