Level of Difficulty: easy
Distance: 1 mile round-trip

The forest is filled with all sorts of Monsters. They watched and waited as you built your Castle and trained your soldiers, but now they’ve gathered their army and are marching out of the woods…

Castle Panic is planted at the Schenectady County Forest in Duanesburg, NY.

**You will need your own ink. Markers work best.

***The trail gets a bit wet during the Spring and after a heavy rain, especially around the pond.

Direction:
Take I-90 to Exit 25A. Take I-88 to Exit 24 – Duanesburg/Rte. 20. Take a left off the Exit and go to the stop sign. Take a right onto Rte. 20 West. Go 2.2 miles and turn right onto Duanesburg Churches Road. Go 2.5 miles and turn right onto Lake Road. Go .6 mile to the Schenectady County Forest on the left.

Clue:

Castle Panic
Take the trail next to the kiosk. When you come it a “y” on the trail, veer left. Pass a trail on the right (goes up to the pond it you want to see it, but you will come out here). When you come to a low stone wall, look to your left and go 8 paces along the stone wall to a small double trunk tree. There is a mossy log in front of the tree. Look between the two rocks and under the log.

Healer
Continue on the trail. Go over a 2-plank board on the trail. Go through another stone wall. Over another 2-plank board. Take a right onto the Yellow Trail and go 10 paces to a 5ft stump on the right hand side. There is a downed tree behind the stump and then another 5ft stump (very brittle) behind it. Look in a hole in the base of the stump.

Orc Warlord
Continue on the Yellow Trail (this trail meanders in spots but is marked). Go over a downed tree extending across the trail and continue on awhile to the next intersection. Go 13 paces straight into the wood to a triple trunked tree. Look behind it under pine needles.

Goblin King
Go the 13 paces back out to the trail (facing the yellow trail) and turn left towards the 2-plank board. Go over the plank and continue on the blue trail. Go over another 2-plank board. At the “y” go right onto the red trail so that the rock wall is on your left. The rock wall will soon cross over the trail. At the rock wall, look right to a tall oak tree. Look behind in and under some rocks.

Troll Mage
Continue on the red trail all the way to the pond. Just before you reach the pond, there is a downed tree on the right. Its 7ft tall base is still standing. Look behind the base, under a flat rock.

Hope you enjoyed Castle Panic!! It is one of my favorite games!

To get back to your car:
Continue to the pond and go right. The path is a bit overgrown and a little wet. Go around the pond until you reach a trail on the right. Take this trail and then turn left at the intersection. Follow it all the way back to your car.
