THIS IS A NEW LOCATION FOR THIS BOX.

Way back when (1987) one of the Pink Ladies held her first job as a Thrifty Drug Store employee. Among her various duties of stocking beer, enemas, and cigarettes, she hand priced the weekly shipments to the store, gathered carts from the parking lot, was a cashier and scooped delicious Thrifty Ice Cream at the east side store near Santa Rita High School. The Ice Cream was not only great tasting, (mint chip, chocolate malted crunch, and pecan praline anyone?), but it was extremely inexpensive. Can you recall a single scoop for .15 cents, a double for .30 and a triple for .45? And one of the best parts of getting the ice cream was the scoop. It would make perfectly cylindrical servings of ice cream that stacked neatly on top of each other making a triple easy to eat.

The drug store chain left Tucson in the early ‘90s but the ice cream is still available today! You can enjoy a scoop for yourself at the Chocolate Depot at Trail Dust Town. Be sure to have a classic sugar or cake cone so they can use the Amazing Thrifty’s Ice Cream Scoop. If you select the waffle cone then you will get the classic round ball ice cream scooper. Now that you have had your ice cream it’s time to make your way to the box. Drive or walk to the parking area just to the NorthWest of Pinnacle Peak. Walk along the fence line along the North side until you reach the last light post. the box is located in the metail box at the base of the light post on the backside.

Keep your eyes open as Pinnacle Peak has a good security team and you do not want to get caught.

Be sure to replace the box on the backside of the light post so that the box closes nicely and hides the letterbox.
