This letterbox was part of the 2011 GO and Explore Your World! program, and was available from June 1, 2011 - September 5, 2011. Stay tuned for the 5th annual GO York program, to start in June 2012. Information about the program may be found at www.goyork.org.
The GO and Explore Your World! program uses checkpoints - wooden posts with engraved plates attached to them - instead of traditional letterboxes and stamps. Please carefully rub an impression from the engraved plate into your Passport (program guide), available at any York County Library.
This letterbox is located in Sunset Lane Park, West Manchester Township, and is rated "easy" by GO York standards.
- To begin your adventure, locate and walk to the play structure.
- Using the nine brown steps, climb to the top of the play structure.
- With your back to the pavilion, look out over the park and locate the volleyball courts.
- Carefully climb back down the play structure and, using the paved path in front of the play structure, walk toward the softball field.
- At the “T” in the path turn left, and continue to follow the path. The basketball court should be on your right side.
- Continue following the paved path to the volleyball court.
- As you stroll past the volleyball court the path will curve slightly to the right. On your left side locate an old tree stump.
- As you approach the tree stump with the volleyball court to your back, glance out over the hill and locate a landscaped mulch island.
- Run to this “island” and locate the checkpoint.
