This letterbox was part of the 2011 GO and Explore Your World! program, and was available from June 1, 2011 - September 5, 2011. Stay tuned for the 5th annual GO York program, to start in June 2012. Information about the program may be found at www.goyork.org.
The GO and Explore Your World! program uses checkpoints - wooden posts with engraved plates attached to them - instead of traditional letterboxes and stamps. Please carefully rub an impression from the engraved plate into your Passport (program guide), available at any York County Library.
This letterbox is located in Roof Park, Fairview Township. It is rated "easy" by GO York standards.
- Start your trek at the flagpole and walk along the macadam path toward the playground.
- At the “Y” intersection just before the playground, continue on the path to the left.
- In the area between the playground and the pavilion, search for a plaque titled “Paula’s Playground.” Read the plaque to find out Paula’s years of service. Add the two digits and remember the sum.
- Return to the macadam path and back track to the “Y” intersection.
- Turn left and continue on the path.
- Just past the playground, look for a line of evergreen trees on the left side of the trail. Remembering the sum from above, count that number of trees as you continue walking and the checkpoint should be located there.
- Continue on the path to return to the parking lot.
